The distributed fault location device independently developed by CSG Hainan Power Grid Industrial Development Company was successfully installed in Laos on December 25, 2024. This marked the completion of the 2024 distributed accurate fault location system project for Electricite du Laos Transmission Company Limited (EDL-T). It is also the first successful overseas application of Hainan Power Grid's proprietary technology.
With a tropical climate influenced by monsoons, Laos faces challenges such as frequent lightning strikes and rugged terrain, which complicate the diagnosis of transmission line issues. The distributed fault location device will significantly reduce fault location errors, shorten fault-finding and power outage durations, and enhance the safety and efficiency of the Lao power grid's operations and maintenance.
Looking ahead, the distributed accurate fault location system is set to be expanded to Vietnam, Thailand, and other Lancang-Mekong countries. This initiative will support the development of Hainan province's tropical smart digital grid and contribute to the high-quality construction of the Belt and Road.
